Online Shopping No-Brainer
Okay, it’s almost the holidays, and we’re all seriously trying to figure out how to save money, right? Well, here’s the closest thing to a “no-brainer” that I can think of:
These sites are shopping portal sites, set up to pay you a pre-specified “rebate” of your total purchase at their participating merchants. All you have to do is start your shopping trip by clicking through their website to get to the merchant’s site.
It’s NOT a discount at the time of purchase. They send you an actual check for your total earned rebates either 60 days after month’s end or once a quarter (depending on the site).
But here’s the thing I like: it’s not like the rebates are attached to some totally obscure merchants. They have rebates for places that we already shop with allllll the time! So, you don’t have to adjust your shopping habits. If you already know what you want…you just go to these sites first and see if they are offering a rebate for that particular merchant, click through, and save. (And I *always* compare the two sites…to make sure that I’m getting the largest rebate that I can.)
There are literally HUNDREDS of merchants to choose from. And I’ll bet they are merchants that you use all the time. Like as I write this, the ShopAtHome site is giving 8% off Drugstore.com purchases, and 5% off Target.com purchases. eBates is giving 6% off VitaminShoppe.com, and 5% off Nordstrom.com. Tell me that isn’t free money just sitting around for us to take advantage of.
Now, you KNOW me…I’m paranoid. So I was skeptical at first…but this honestly does work. I’ve used one of these sites for 9 years, the other one for 5 years, and I always have received my checks for the correct amounts.
Yes, I know, I know…now you’re tweaked because I didn’t tell you about this earlier. I just felt kind of awkward because…yes, if I refer you, I do get a referral credit. But I swear that is not why I’m telling you about this now. I just finally looked at the huge total amount that I have saved over the years, and decided that you would definitely want to know about this before the holidays. After all…frugal is the new black!
I’d like you to know that if you join this free service from one of my links I may receive a small advertising commission. However, maintaining an honest relationship with you is more important than the lure of advertising money. So regardless of the incentive, I only write about products that I actually use myself and am truly crazy in love with.
